Easter Christening Flowers
It’s not every day that you get to create flower arrangements for the most angelic of children. The 1 year old daughter of one of my dearest friends was Christened over the Easter holiday. Knowing how much my friend, and her daughter, loves flowers I couldn’t let this special day pass without creating beautiful floral accessories to complement the stunning christening gown and bonnet that my friend knitted by hand! I wish I had that talent, I can knit a mean scarf, but create a gown for my child which will then become a family heirloom, not a chance. So to celebrate this special day my friend and I had an after-hours flower party to create the floral halo and posy for her daughter and a boutonniere and corsage for the godparents. My friend, who has an uncanny ability to pick up creative talents at the drop of a hat created the very organic and elegant boutonniere & corsage (which we don’t have pictures of) and I created the halo, posy and floral centerpiece for the luncheon. The halo was created out of small lambs ears, white astrantia and white delphinium blooms. The posy was created with a white rose, white sweet peas, maidenhair fern and white astrantia. Here are the pictures my friend took of her daughter at Brookside Gardens to commemorate this special day. Her photography skills are out of this world….she made this baby look angelic in ways that make you catch your breath with the way she captured her gentle character and the way she allowed the natural light create an ethereal glow!
