Floral round-up for Week of April 16, 2012
It was a crazy busy week for Petals by the Shore! I had my weekly salon arrangements, bridal consulations, prep for weddings and then a last minute memorial service at Brookside Gardens. It had been almost 8 years since I had designed for a funeral. I enjoyed designing for this memorial service because the client wanted non-traditional standing sprays in a half-moon shape with gorgeous lilies. The pink lilies really made these arrangements beautiful. They are from one of my local growers, Farmhouse Flowers & Plants in Brookeville, MD who always amazes me with their lilies quality and bloom size!
This special memorial service was held at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. It really touched me that family and friends gathered at such a beautiful location to celebrate & honor their loved one’s life with her favorite flowers, colors and food! The table centerpieces were spring arrangements of garden roses, lilies, hydrangea, sunflowers, daffodils, stock, lisianthus, astrantia, bupleurum, flowering scotch broom, feverfew & bachelors buttons.
My arrangement for Luxuria Salon & Spa was one of my favorites this week because of the soft color palette. I loved the combination of the blue delphinium, white lisianthus, green viburnum dusty pink astrantia and peach mini carnations.
My arrangement for Hypnotic Salon and Spa was a fun design of fuschia dendrobium orchids, foxtail and calathea leaves.
At the end of the week one of my wonderful clients called me to design an arrangement for her friend’s birthday using the friend’s favorite color yellow. I created a lush arrangement of yellow tulips, white roses, yellow daffodils, white daisies, foxtail, hypericum berries, bupleurm, hostas and curly willow. It was a great way to close this very busy week!
Looking forward to this coming week’s two weddings, one at The Cloisters and the other at Woodlawn Manor!
