Vintage Romance Sweetheart Table

I was honored to be invited to create a display for the February 2012 Open House at Absolutely Perfect Catering and lucky enough to have Eric Stocklin capture the beauty of all the flowers with his amazing photography.  I was asked to design a sweetheart table centerpiece with a vintage romance theme.  I was so excited when I heard what the theme was and my “wheels” quickly started turning with so many ideas.  I love when I get to be creative and have no limits to what I can design!  I headed to one of my favorite places for inspiration, Michaels Arts & Crafts.  I knew they had a new vintage line of home decor and I was in love the minute I saw these beautiful mercury long stemmed candle holders!

From there I knew my color palatte would consist of warm and romantic purples, burgundy and soft whites.  One of my longtime favorite flowers is lilac so when I saw that in stock at my wholesaler I knew I wanted to have that be in my design.  I not only love the room filling fragrance of lilac, but I also love how it drapes over a vase, it just adds that romantic vibe to any arrangement.  Then I knew I wanted to incorporate my newest favorite flower, hellebores.  I can’t get enough of this amazing flower.  It screams vintage, shabby chic and romance.  To help finish the design I added white and burgundy ranunculus, lavender roses, white astrantia and seeded eucalyptus.  I created three small pieces and nestled them around the base of the candleholders.  I loved how the mercury candleholders emitted a glow above the flowers and the mercury votives created a soft halo of light around the flowers.  The ultimate romantic ambiance!

This was my first catering open house and I have to say that I was really blown away by all the unique and elaborate displays that Absolutely Perfect Catering created.  Everything was available for guests to taste from a pot pie bar, cocktail shrimp shooters, a liquid candy bar, a Willy Wonka inspired dessert and candy bar and wall of chocolate mousse and strawberry shortcake!  There were so many other displays but the sweet ones definitely caught my eye and taste buds!

Thank you to Absolutely Perfect Catering for this awesome opportunity and as well to Eric Stocklin for his beautiful work!  I met some wonderful brides and grooms that night and look forward to helping them create the wedding theme of their dreams; be it vintage romance, 1920’s Great Gatsby, a Secret Garden or modern elegance!
